There is more than one artist represented here: 1) Cake(often written capitalized: CAKE) is a band formed in 1991 in Sacramento, California. It has had several hits throughout the 1990s and 2000s from its five recorded albums. Although Cake's music is often classified as alternative or indie rock, it combines multiple musical genres, such as funk, ska, pop, jazz, rap, and country. Cake's music features droll lyrics rife with word play and syncopation (laconically-voiced in a rap-like style by lead vocalist/guitarist John McCrea), catchy distorted guitar riffs (courtesy of guitarist Greg Brown until 1998, and bass player Victor Damiani until 1997), and a solo trumpet (played by Vince DiFiore). Cake's unique musical style has been compared to They Might Be Giants, Talking Heads, The Cars and Camper Van Beethoven.

Shadow Stabbing Lyrics

Cake

Shadow stabbing
Adjectives on the typewriter
He moves his words like a prizefighter
The frenzied pace of the mind inside the cell
The man on the street might just as well be
The man on the street might just as well
The man on the street might just as well be
Outside, outside the walls
Out there you dont hear the echoes and calls
But the steel eye, tight jaw,
Say it all, say it all
But the white paint, plastic saints
Say it all, say it all, say it all
Say it all (say it all)
Say it all (say it all)
Say it all (say it all)
Say somebodys got to say it all
Somebodys got to say it all
Im so nervous, Im so tense
My heart cant forget about its self defense
The air is so hot and my breath comes fast
I thumb the cool blade but I know this cant last
I thumb the cool blade but I know this cant last
Outside, outside the walls
Out there you dont hear the echoes and calls
But the steel eye, tight jaw
Say it all, say it all
But the white paint, plastic saints
Say it all, say it all, say it all
Say it all (say it all)
Say it all (say it all)
Say it all (say it all)
Say somebodys got to say it all
Somebodys got to say it all
Adjectives on the typewriter

The frenzied pace of the mind inside the cell

The man on the street might just as well
The man on the street might just as well be
